The Point Church Mission

Our desire to be a church who loves people, proclaims Christ, and disciples believers through gospel-centered fellowship and teaching.

Love People

It is only by the power of Christ in us, as believers, that we can begin to extend to others this selfless love. We desire to be a church that loves people through our words and actions (1 Cor. 13:13).

Proclaim Christ

We have been commanded to take the message of God’s amazing love, Christ’s sacrifice and His victory over death to everyone we come in contact with every day. The cross of Jesus redeems sinners and connects us to the one true God who desires an intimate relationship with each and every one of us (Matthew 28:19-20).

Disciple Believers

It is our responsibility as the church to walk beside our brothers and sisters in Christ and build each other up, growing in our knowledge of Christ together and our love for others. We are to teach, preach, serve, pray and live life to glorify God (Prov. 27:17).

What is the Gospel?

The Gospel is defined as “good news” …and that’s what it is. The gospel reveals God’s plan of redemption for our broken and fallen world through the life, death, resurrection and ultimate return of His son, Jesus Christ. The salvation that Christ paid for with His life is a free gift to all that believe. God’s grace covers anyone, no matter where you have been or where you are now in life. We can’t earn our own way to heaven. It is not by good works or self-improvement that we receive God’s grace and mercy. It is only by believing in Christ and giving our lives over to Him that we are saved from sin’s penalty. This new life in Christ brings freedom. It provides each believer with an eternal inheritance and a new identity in Christ. God desires a close, intimate relationship with you. He loves you…. enough to die for you.

“I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” John 10:10

Scripture

We Believe all scripture, the Old and New Testament, is truth and God-breathed. It is the final authority and without error. It is to be used for teaching, training, and equipping us as followers of Christ. (2 Timothy 3:16-17, Psalm 19:7-11, Proverbs 30:5)

God

We Believe in one true God. He is the Creator of Heaven and Earth. We believe He exists in three distinct persons: The Father, the Son (Jesus Christ) and the Holy Spirit. (Genesis 1:26, Isaiah 45:5-6, Psalm 45:6, Matthew 3:13-17, John 17:3, 1 Corinthians 12:4-6, 1 Timothy 2:5)

Jesus

We Believe in Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God. We believe He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of a virgin. We believe He was fully God and fully man. We believe He was perfect in nature. He performed miracles and fulfilled prophecy. We believe His life is our model for how to live and how to love those around us. (Matthew 1:20-21, Luke 2:52, John 1:1-4, 14. Hebrews 1:1-3)

Holy Spirit

We Believe the Holy Spirit is a person. We believe the Holy Spirit possesses a will, intellect, and emotions. He is God, with all the attributes of deity. The Holy Spirit leads us in all truth, helps us understand truth, and convicts us of our sins. We believe the Holy Spirit dwells within us at the moment of our salvation. He leads us to do greater works and to glorify Christ. (Matthew 28:19, John 14:26, John 16:8-14, 1 Corinthians 2:14)

Sin

We Believe all humanity is sinful by birth and action and our sin separated us from God and deserved penalty. (Genesis 6:5, Psalm 51:5, Jeremiah 17:9, Ephesians 2:1-3, Romans 3:23, Romans 5:8, Roman 5:12, James 1:14-15)

Salvation

We Believe Jesus Christ was crucified and died as a sacrifice to pay the penalty for all of mankind’s sins. (John 1:29, Romans 5:8, 1 Corinthians 15:1-4)

Resurrection

We Believe Jesus Christ was physically raised from the dead. He appeared after the resurrection to his disciples and over 500 followers, ascended into heaven, and now sits at the right hand of God. We believe He will physically return again one day. (Matthew 28:1-20, Mark 16:1-8, Luke 24:1-53, John 14:3, Acts 1:11, Romans 3:24, Hebrews 9:28, 1 John 3:2, Revelation 1:7)

Eternity

We Believe in a day when all will be physically raised from the dead. We believe we all will live eternally, either in union with God by our repentance and faith in Jesus Christ and this alone, or eternally separated from God by sin. We believe that heaven and hell are real places. (Matthew 25:31-46, John 3:16-18, John 5:28-29, John 14:6, John 14:17, Acts 4:12, Acts 24:15, Romans 6:23, Romans 8:17-18, 1 Corinthians 2:7-9, 1 Timothy 2:5-6, Revelation 20:15)
